18 Clever Hacks to Clean Glass Shower Doors You Must Know

Nothing can make me more annoyed than seeing a dirty glass shower door filled with soap scum and watermarks.

Often, I get tired of cleaning my glass shower doors every now and then. Recently I have found a few ways which make the process more effective and less time-consuming.

Also, it is essential not to use chemical products every other day. There are many natural methods that you can follow to clean your glass shower doors.

I’ve had come with a few hacks. I’ll share those hacks with you so that you can save yourself from being mad like me.

Easy & Clever Hacks to Clean Glass Shower Doors Effectively

1. The most common one – Use vinegar on the glass shower door

There is no alternative to using vinegar. It will melt the hard stains and soap scum. After applying vinegar, rub the shower door with a clean cloth.

If the stains are too hard to remove, you can try adding some surface detergent as well.

2. Try adding some baking soda with vinegar

If you haven’t cleaned your shower doors for a while, baking soda and vinegar will work well. 2 tablespoons of baking soda and a half cup of vinegar will do the magic.

3. Use a water displacing spray like WD-40

If you want to use water-displacing spray, you can do that as well. Spray the WD-40 on your glass door. Wipe the glass after letting it sit for a few minutes.

I use WD-40 when I don’t find enough time to clean my doors regularly. As a result, it becomes harder to get rid of the stain. That’s when WD-40 works the best.

4. What about using pam cooking spray?

A friend of mine suggested using pam cooking spray to get rid of the soap scum. Spray and wipe – as simple as that.

Rinse off the door with water after you use pam cooking spray.

5. Don’t forget to use your favorite squeegee daily

I’ve been following this hack for a while, and I hardly get any stain in my shower door. After getting a shower, I use the squeegee to run off all the excess water.

6. Turn on the fan and leave the door open after getting a shower

It is also an excellent habit of leaving the door open and turning on the fan after a shower. The shower will get dried soon, and you will be saved from the trouble.

7. Use a glass cleaner to bring back that shine

After you are done getting rid of those water stains and soap scup, it is a good idea to use a glass cleaner. Using the glass cleaner will bring back the shine.

8. Ever thought of using lemon pledge?

You can also use lemon pledge to keep your shower door clean. Spray the solution and wait for 20 minutes.

It will make the cleaning process a lot easier and faster.

9. Reuse those dryer sheets

If you find any specific spot where the stain doesn’t want to come off anyway, use a dryer sheet. Dampen it at first and rub it against the glass door.

The little spots with hard water stains will be gone for good.

10. Apply corn starch on the hard stains to get rid of them

Try mixing cornstarch and vinegar. Spray on the doors and thoroughly clean it. You can also add dishwashing liquid if you need to.

Cornstarch works as a great cleaning agent if you know how to use it properly.

11. Any kind of citric acid will work well on the glass shower door

You can use grapefruit as a cleaning solution. Add a pinch of salt, and you will see the magic.

Use a sponge to scrub the areas with hard water stains.

12. Epson salts can be a great alternative as well

Epson salt can be a great alternative to those harsh chemical products. The salt works fine like a chemical product in terms of effectiveness.

Exfoliate your glass shower door with Epson salt.

13. Make a homemade glass shower door cleaner with the dawn, vinegar and essential oil

Mix three ingredients – dawn, vinegar, and essential oil – together and pour it in a spray bottle. After spraying, let it sit for 30 minutes and then wipe off with a sponge.

14. Combine dawn and jet dry together and then apply

Use a teaspoon of dish soap, dish wand, and a drop of getting dry to clean your shower door. If you don’t have dawn, you can add vinegar instead.

Take a cloth and wipe the area with the solution. Then rinse off with clean water.

15. Try using the lemon essential oil and hot water

I personally prefer to use lemon essential oil once a while in my shower doors. It brings back the life of the glass doors.

Pour a few drops of lemon essential oil in hot water. Wipe the door, and it will shine like before.

16. Use ammonia to get rid of the hard stain

When you add ammonia and water, it works as a great cleaning solution. Pour 2 cups of ammonia and 1 cup of water in a spray bottle.

Let the mixture sit on the door for a few minutes. You will get a clean shower door after scrubbing it with the mixture.

17. Mix salt and water together

You can try making a mixture of salt and water. Add 3 tablespoons of table salt in a mug filled with hot water.

Scrubbing this solution with a sponge will help you to clean your glass shower door.

18. The cheapest solution – Using lemon juice

Lemon juice works quite while when it comes to cleaning hard water stains. I used to use this method mostly for those watermarks.

The citric acid works quite well on the shower door having hard water stains.
